PADI Scuba Diver to Open Water Course

Diver certification begins here. Move to the pool and practice your new skills. Then experience two open water (ocean/lake) dives.

If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Get your scuba diving certification with the PADI® Scuba Diver course – the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course. To enroll in a PADI Scuba Diver course (or Junior Scuba Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:

  • Knowledge Development ( independent study or in a classroom) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
  • Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills
  • Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!

Our Open Water course is charged at £175 per person which I’m sure you will find is very competitive to others teaching Scuba diving in this area, group deals for this course (min 3 ) we then offer a 10% discount per person.

The course consists of a minimum of 3 pool sessions carried out at Thornhill School ( 5 mins drive from our Dive Centre), the pool is 25 metres long and has depths ranging from 1 – 3 metres.

Any lectures you need to do will be done at our Dive Centre in Trimdon Street.

The course runs like this, you have a manual and DVD to watch and Knowledge reviews to complete, basically read chapter one, watch section one, complete knowledge review one then go to the pool and complete pool session one, then move on to number two.

Once all three pool sessions are complete we would then look to get you into the Open Water,

The Open Water dives are completed at Capernwray Quarry or Ellerton Lake which is totally set up for diving tuition,

There is an entry fee to pay to get into Capernwray which has to be paid by the student.

On completion of all the dives in the open water which can be done in one day ( max 3 dives per day) then you will receive a certification card which will entitle you to dive any where in the world with a PADI Pro or guide

The Open Water certification enables you to dive to a depth of 12 Metres, we also do continuing education courses to follow on from Scuba Diver to increase your knowledge and skills and depths

Courses are run on a weekly basis as we have more than enough instructors to be able to run all levels of the open water course during our pool sessions, so you could start now and after the 3 mandatory sessions and some practice sessions be ready to dive in the open water

However if you would prefer to start a bit later you can purchase the course now and start whenever you want to, this would protect you against and course price increases.

Lastly our course includes the use of all the equipment you may require to complete the Scuba Diver course,

If there is anything else you wish to know either drop me an email or give us a ring or call into our centre for a cuppa and a chat about the way forward
